The relationship between Duracell Energy and Solarfix

Duracell Energy selected Solarfix as a Platinum Partner because our ethos aligns and both companies share a commitment to remarkable customer service and top-quality products. Becoming a Platinum Partner of the world's largest battery company ensures our customers, both existing and new, can trust us to deliver top-tier battery storage solutions to optimize their solar PV systems, ensuring greater savings on their electricity bills. Solarfix has been entrusted with representing Duracell Energy in Northern Ireland, and we are thrilled to provide our customers with a battery solution that is trailblazing the solar space.
The Benefits
The Duracell 5 battery seamlessly integrates with hybrid inverters. This enables customers to optimize their solar PV by storing excess energy for future use instead of feeding it back to the grid, increasing grid independence during the spring/summer months. In the colder and wetter months in Northern Ireland, you can take advantage of the Duracell 5+ battery by charging it on an off-peak tariff, utilizing the cheaper electricity during the darker mornings.
There is also solution options for systems that were installed with a string inverter with no battery compatibility. Solarfix will complete all the necessary applications to NIE for you to ensure compliance. For more information on this solution, get in touch.
Duracell Energy has established itself as a reliable solar battery storage company in the UK. All their batteries are manufactured in the UK and due to being a well-established and world-renowned battery company, they can offer affordable solar battery storage solutions.

The real-life examples
For individuals who are away from home during the day when solar panels are generating electricity, a battery serves as an ideal complement, enabling energy storage for later use. Yet, even for those who are home during daylight hours, substantial power is often exported (earning around 14p) only to be repurchased at a higher rate later. A solar battery provides flexibility and greater savings in such scenarios.
Still asking, is home battery storage worth it?
For new systems, we recommend batteries to anyone who has exceptionally large bills due to appliances like air-source heat pumps, electric vehicles or hot-tubs. Home battery storage helps to combat these appliances high bills, therefore leading to extra savings.
We also recommend home battery storage to any homes that are vacant during the day – save the power generated when you’re not home, for when you are home.
However, if home battery storage isn’t within your solar budget right now, Solarfix will leave your system battery ready. We will then review it with you after a year or so to see whether adding one would benefit your home at present. With a battery ready system, you can add home battery storage at any time, meaning if you get an air-source heat pump in 10 years’ time and want to add a battery then, you can! You can also add as you go with the Dura5+ home battery storage solution, meaning as you and your home changes, your battery storage can change too. Is home battery storage worth it for existing systems?
The best way to determine if adding a battery to your existing solar system is to look at your import and export amounts, to see if they match up. For example, if you are exporting an average of 6 units per day and importing 10, a battery would be a perfect solution. Instead of selling those 6 units back to the grid for 14p* and then buying them back at around double the price that night – save the energy you’ve generated in the Dura5+ and use it within your home that night for more savings.
In the case of this example, you have the option of a 5kw Dura5+ battery, which would cover the average 6 units per day. However, you could add another 5kw Dura5+ battery to equate to 10kw of storage. This would mean, on average you would be able to fill over half the battery everyday with solar and top up the rest on a cheaper overnight tariff, which covers the 10kw average that you are importing per day at a much cheaper rate.
Remember, in the summer you will produce a lot more energy, so the export per day in summer will be higher and therefore you will likely fill the 10kw battery. However, the winter export will be lower, meaning you will utilise the overnight tariff a lot more – but cheaper electric is better than full price electric.
