Setting up automatic night charging allows your batteries to store electricity during off-peak hours, so you can maximise your energy savings and make the most of your system.

We suggest you amend your night charging schedule during the darker months due to the limited daylight hours when you are less likely to fill your batteries from free solar power. However, this can be utilised all year round depending on your energy usage.

With just a few simple steps, you can schedule your batteries to charge overnight, ensuring you have stored energy ready for the day ahead. Whether you’re a new user or need a quick refresher, our guide will help you enable night charging quickly and easily.

Step-by-step instructions

What you’ll need
  • Access to your mySolarEdge app on your mobile phone

Step 1: Open the mySolarEdge app
  1. On your mobile phone, open the SolarEdge app

Step 2: Open the battery controls
  1. Click on the small battery icon in the bottom right corner of the screen

Step 3: Select the mode
  1. Click on Battery Mode

Step 4: Change the battery mode
  1. Scroll down to Manual Control and click

Step 5: Edit the scheduled charge
  1. Click Edit Settings under Manual Control to change the times you want the battery to charge

  2. Click the Charging Schedule in the first time slot

  3. Enter your desired charge time, e.g. 2am to 8am

    • Tip: 2am start time is optional and depends on your batteries usage

    • Tip: Always finish charging by 8am

  4. Press Set

  5. Press Save

Tip: Please never set any discharge time as your batteries will naturally discharge with the house load.

Tip: You can also set your preferred charge time by day and month.

Tip: If you have an EV charging overnight, charge the car first. Charging the car afterward may drain the batteries.

Tip: To maximise savings, this works best on an Economy 7 meter. To change to this day / night meter, please your electricity provider.

Tip: You should aim to charge your batteries fully on most days as this maintains your battery's health. So if you are fully discharging your batteries daily, we recommend having a charging schedule to ensure the longevity of your batteries.

Your SolarEdge app is now configured to charge your batteries on a schedule.
